Gang rob shopper in daylight attack

The Mall shopping centre, arndale

A GANG of five men followed a shopper around Luton town centre and robbed him.

The group, one of whom had a chain wrapped around his fist, attacked the victim when he was walking through an underpass which runs under Chapel Viaduct from Castle Street.

They searched his pockets and took a mobile phone, cash and bank cards before demanding he tell them his PIN number.   The offenders then pushed the victim to the ground before leaving the scene running towards the town centre.

Police believe the men had followed him from The Mall Arndale, past Luton Crown Court and Staples before catching up with him in the underpass.

Anyone with any information on the robbery, which happened between 12.30pm-1pm on January 28, should contact police.

One of the offenders is described as a black man with a dark complexion, about 5ft 5ins tall with a slim build and aged between 19–23.  He was wearing a dark grey hooded top and dark grey track bottoms which were pulled down low revealing cartoon patterned underwear.

A second offender is also described as a black man with a dark complexion, about 5ft 11ins tall with a large build and aged between 20–30. He was wearing a black hooded top and dark jeans, a red belt and yellow training shoes.
