'Organised' raiders steal £100K worth of tyres

generic policeTYRES worth £100,000 were stolen in a warehouse raid described by police as 'well planned and organised'.

A large number of Pirelli, Michelin, Goodyear and Avon brands were taken from Universal Tyres, in the Dukeminister estate, Dunstable.

A number of tools used to replace tyres were also taken in the burglary, in which entry was gained through a forced UPVC door to disable the alarm on Saturday evening.

It is believed the offenders returned to the warehouse hours later in a large van or truck to remove the tyres.  Detective Sergeant Louisa Glynn said the burglary, which took place between 5pm on January 30 and 7pm the following day, was well planned and organised.

She is also keen to speak to anyone who recalls seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the burglary, or anyone who saw an unfamiliar vehicle.
DS Glynn said: "Witnesses may have seen activity at the warehouse on Sunday and thought this normal. We would appeal to the public and trade to contact us if they are offered this property, or have any information that may assist with this inquiry.

"Our appeal is not only directed at people in Bedfordshire and neighbouring Hertfordshire, but nationwide."

Anyone with information can contact DS Glynn, in confidence, on 01582 473235, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
